The Jimmie L Dean Scholarship Foundation (“JDSF”) provides financial scholarship awards (“Awards”) to students who are in good standing enrolled in and attending an accredited Oklahoma College, University or Technical while pursuing an undergraduate degree (“Students”). Students are provided awards after completing an application process (“Applicants”) and being selected by the Foundations’ Board of Directors.  During the normal course of the application providing for these awards, JDSF may collect information from our Students and Applicants of a private nature. This Privacy Policy explains how JDSF collects such information, how we protect that information, and what we do and do not use the information for.

Information We Collect

Anyone may visit our web site without revealing any personal information (“Visitor”). Visitors may freely utilize the public areas of our web site without providing any information to JDSF. Should a Visitor choose to submit an application and pursue a potential Award via our web site, all personal information collected during the sign up process will be passed to JDSF staff securely via SSL encryption.

JDSF maintains web server traffic logs. Web server logs provide such information as what types of browsers are accessing our site, what pages receive high traffic, and how people are being referred to our site. We do not use this information to personally identify you.

JDSF collects basic information such as first and last name, physical address, phone numbers, email addresses, an d the information shown on the application form from all Applicants at the time of their submission of an application. WE DO NOT REQUIRE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER FOR AN APPLICATION OR AN AWARD.  INFORMATION in addition to that submitted via the website is sent through unsecured E-mail.  Applications will not be accepted unless they are submitted securely on our web site via the appropriate form.

A cookie is an element of data that a web site can send to your browser which may then be stored on your system. Some TCIS pages use cookies to tailor our web site to your preferences or needs. We do not use cookies or similar technology to cross-relate, track the surfing habits, or in any other way monitor the activities of our visitors or customers. Note that some services provided on the TCIS Web site require the use of cookies.

How We Use This Information

The primary use of the information we collect is to evaluate the Applicants for consideration for an Award.  We may also use the information to:

  • Make the JDSF web site easier for you to use by not having to enter information more than once.
  • Provide you with notice that your application has been received.

We may share some of the information you provide with other JDSF entities and/or business partners who are acting on our behalf. Any communication from such sources will clearly identify themselves as JDSF entities/partners.

How We Do Not Use this Information

JDSF WILL NOT SELL, RENT OR LEASE YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION TO OTHERS.
This includes but is not limited to your E-mail address information. We have strict anti-spam policies, and we protect our Customers from unwanted solicitations by keeping your contact information private. We also encourage the use of anti-spyware technology such as AdAware to remove unwanted monitoring of your online activities by third-party programs.

Data Security

JDSF is concerned about the security of your information. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, maintain data integrity, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. We use 128-bit SSL encryption technology when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information online.

We reserve the right to disclose any and all pertinent customer information to law enforceme nt or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate.  If you become a Student who receives an Award from the JDSF, we will require an additional disclosure to be signed that will further disclose how we may use your information.

Your Acceptance

By using the JDSF web site or in receiving an Award, you signify your agreement with the terms of this Privacy Statement. JDSF may amend its privacy policy at any time. JDSF will post the revised Privacy Statement on its web site. It is your responsibility to review this statement from time to time as continued use of this web site or JDSF Services following an amendment signifies your acceptance of the terms of the new Privacy Statement.
